Digital Accessibility

We aim to make our website or mobile application accessible in accordance with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The technical accessibility requirements are set out in the German Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV) 2.0.

When was this accessibility statement prepared?

This statement was first prepared on 1 July 2024 and is reviewed on an ongoing basis.

How accessible is the website?

This website is partially accessible. Some of the requirements of BITV 2.0 are met.

Which areas are accessible under the current BITV?

  • Enlarging text: in common browsers such as Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera and Apple Safari, use Ctrl and + on Windows or cmd and + on Apple devices, or use the corresponding icon on the website.
  • Reducing text: use Ctrl and – on Windows or cmd and – on Apple devices.
  • Resetting text size to 100% using the icon on the website.
  • Responsive screen content: the content automatically adapts to the device’s screen size.
  • Browser-based text-to-speech functionality.
  • A contrast button for visually impaired visitors.
  • Subtitle functionality for videos.

Which areas are partially accessible under the current BITV?

  • Documents and forms
  • Tables
  • Alternative text

Which areas are not accessible under the current BITV?

  • Controls without alternative text.
  • Videos without subtitles: videos with sound do not have the necessary subtitles.
  • Not all PDF documents are accessible: newly added PDFs are intended to be created in accessible formats and older ones replaced.
  • Content structure: incorrect text formatting can impair the reading flow.
  • Words and passages in other languages are not always marked up as such.
