Family-run hospitality and tradition in the Münsterland

Witte has been a place of hospitality in Ahlen-Vorhelm since 1878. What began as a village inn is now run as a family hotel and restaurant by the fourth and fifth generations. Much has changed over more than 140 years, but our connection to the house, the village and our guests remains.

For us, tradition does not mean standing still. The rooms, event spaces, restaurant and hall have been modernised and expanded over time. Today Witte combines its rural Westphalian roots with a contemporary hotel and restaurant in the Münsterland.

Our history through the years

1878
Heinrich Witte receives the licence for the village inn. Around the turn of the century, his eldest son Bernhard takes over as the second generation.

The old Witte family house is demolished and replaced by the building that still houses the hotel and restaurant today.

1956
Master baker Theo Witte takes over the hotel. The rooms and inn are extensively restored and modernised.
1978
On 23 December, the Witte inn celebrates its centenary.
1979
Following his father’s early death, Josef Witte takes over the family business as the fourth generation.
1984
The hotel is remodelled and all floors become part of the hotel.

1997
A large guest room is expanded into a flexible hall for around 150 guests.
2012
The hotel rooms are completely renovated.
2018
The restaurant and hall are modernised.
2021
All guest rooms are fitted with comfortable box-spring beds.
